Blog #6
Final blog from Russia---entire group took overnight train from St. Pete's to Mowcow--without incident. Believe most are exhausted beyond belief--you can see it in their faces, in how they walk and in there repeated requests to "say again" or "what"
St. Petersburg is a beautiful city and sits on the Finland Bay--Peter the Great is acknowledged as the founder of the Russian Navy. Yesterday (Saturday here) we went to the fortress of Peter and Paul and to the Hermitage (a art museum that does in fact rival the Louve for sheer size and number of possessions). Also went to a folk show (singing and dancing) and then as noted earlier boarded the 11:05 PM train to Moscow (arriving at 7 AM). We then had breakfast in the train station and shortly thereafter several needed immodium--I did not as I only had coffee.
On to Atlanta.

nice to see some action on the russian front as well...growing up with Gorky and Dostoevsky and an airforce almost exclusively comprising of the MIGs, i sort of have a unique affinity with the cossacks...so a liquid diet does have its merits after all - irish or russian coffee would have probably been even better. i thought AT&T had global GSM coverage for its BB's. well you must be on the way back to hotLanta...things are sunny and cool in Orono, so welcome back and thanks for the very vivid prose describing your sojourns...BTW, a group photo would be good to see anyway - i can them place them in time....Pank
